Solution: Bottom Lines
Answer: GULLIVER

The key insight to solving this puzzle is realizing that these weird lines are actually just an English sentence with the top ⅔ of every letter cut off. Through some logical deduction, you can figure out that the cluephrase is “THE ANSWER TO THIS PUZZLE IS THE LAST NAME OF A TRAVELLER CREATED BY JONATHAN SWIFT”. This clues GULLIVER from Gulliver’s Travels, which is the correct answer.

The idea for this puzzle came to me when I accidentally used the wrong tool to scrape off these license-code-scrape-off-thingies and in the process destroyed the top parts of three characters. After some hours of trying to deduce these characters, inputting some possible codes, and contacting support, I finally had my license code.
